Plugable TBT4-UDZ Thunderbolt 4 Dock

The Plugable TBT4-UDZ is a Thunderbolt 4 docking station delivering up to 96W of host charging. It is driver-less (no DisplayLink) and, importantly, uses a single display output rather than DisplayPort MST — which Plugable explicitly recommends for AMD/Linux stability12.

Linux + AMD: pick this style of dock

Plugable officially does not recommend MST-based docks on AMD/Linux due to unstable AMD MST drivers, and instead points to their no-MST Thunderbolt 4 docks (TBT4-UDZ, TBT4-UDX1, TBT4-UD5) — displays are limited to 4K 60Hz, but stability is far better2. The AMD MST fixes landed in kernel 6.15/6.16, so newer kernels also improve MST docks2.

Single display only

Because this dock has no MST, it drives a single external display (4K 60Hz). If you need multi-monitor, look at the Dell WD22TB4 (MST, best on Windows/newer Linux kernels).
