Minisforum DEG1 OCuLink eGPU Dock

The Minisforum DEG1 is an OCuLink-to-PCIe x16 dock that connects a desktop graphics card to a host over a native OCuLink connection — bypassing the Thunderbolt/USB4 protocol overhead entirely. On the Framework Laptop 16 it pairs with the community M.2-to-OCuLink Expansion Bay adapter (or the official OCuLink Dev Kit) to deliver full PCIe bandwidth. Framework 16 users report it as more stable than USB4 eGPU enclosures like the AOOSTAR AG02, and it ships with a longer, more compatible cable12.

OCuLink gives the best eGPU performance on the FW16

OCuLink is a native PCIe connection — no USB4 tunneling overhead — so it yields the full ~64 Gbps of usable bandwidth, the best eGPU performance available on a Framework. The trade-off: no hot-plugging. You must reboot to connect or disconnect the dock1.

:::warning[Setup requires the Expansion Bay OCuLink adapter

You need an OCuLink adapter in the FW16 Expansion Bay (a community M.2-to-OCuLink board, or Framework's own OCuLink Dev Kit) to expose the PCIe lanes. The DEG1 itself just provides the desktop-side PCIe x16 slot and power — you supply the PSU and GPU1. See the OCuLink eGPU Expansion Bay Module project page for the host-side adapter options.
