It shipped with an upgraded back panel, and a 12th Gen Upgrade Kit was offered to allow 11th Gen users to upgrade their laptops. Pre-ordering for Australia opened in September 2022.

Framework Laptop 13 (13th Gen Intel, 2023)

Announced in March 2023 at the Framework Next Level event alongside the Framework Laptop 16. This model brought Raptor Lake processors and adopted the "Framework Laptop 13" designation to distinguish it from the new Laptop 16. Also introduced were a higher capacity 61 Wh battery, a matte display option, and a Cooler Master case to house Framework motherboards. Battery life saw a significant 40% uplift in PCMark's battery test over prior Intel designs, with an additional 13% improvement when upgrading to the 61 Wh battery.

Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen 7040, 2023)

Announced in March 2023 alongside the 13th Gen Intel model, the AMD Ryzen 7040 variant was Framework's first AMD-powered laptop. Initial shipments were delayed due to electrical and firmware issues. The AMD variant showed additional battery life, better performance, less heat, and lower fan noise when idle compared to Intel models, leading some to suggest it rendered Intel models obsolete.
